the film trailer for unfriended matches the house style of the film which is very dark and even a little bit sinister as the film has very dark undertones to it with it being a horror film the film trailer helps a lot advertise the film so it is seen by many people around the world and it also shows snippets of the film so the audience can get a feel for what the film is really about and the message that the film is portraying and the message that the film wants to get across whether that be about friendship or being careful what you get up to with your friends or even including what you post on social media. the house style of the film trailer matches the messages that the trailer is aiming to get across as the house style is quite dark which links in with messages that the film has underlying in the movie. the film trailer shows clips from social media then as the film progresses it switches to the girl who is the main character shooting herself due to pressure off other people it then progresses to the girls friends being harassed whilst they are online on a group chat on what appears to be skype.

the house style of the film is consistent and it matches the film and the trailer as it has dark undertones to it has it is a horror film which deals with a subject that is quite common amongst young people it can help to advertise the film and also it helps to draw attention to the subjects that it deals with within the film. the poster could be interpreted in different ways as the could look at the poster and think that it is about a girl being unfriended and it may have links in with social media but it has dark undertones to it.

there was various social media campaigns for this film such as this on buzzfeed there was also a campaign on twitter which was associated with the main character these campaigns helped to promote the film even-though is wasn’t exactly a mainstream film it still did generate income however.

understanding the brief

aims and objectives the aims and objectives of the brief are what is being advertised which in this case is the film or media product it is being advertise to launch a new media product and to advertise the product so that it does well in the box office or on whatever platform it is going to be available on such as Netflix or you tube if it is a short film aimed at a niche audience.

who are the target audience?: the target audience for the film would be both Male and female as the film has to appeal to both genders who would be between the ages of 15-24 the demographic would be Casual labourers as many people between the ages are still in some type of education or training and they don’t have much money as they still rely on their parents as a source of income. Their lifestyle is mainly based around having a lot of recreational with their friends and doing work from school or collage in their friends. Their interests may be things such as music and movies and even sports such as football and basketball.

specific and relevant concerns: the specific and relevant concerns are things such legal and ethical concerns such as if brands are going be worn then making sure that permission has been asked from the brand owners. Almost making sure that copyright materials aren’t being used for any reason in the product.

title– the title of the film is called year end

slogan– the slogan of my film is called you’re next. i chose to use a simple, short sentence so is sticks in the audiences head and it will make the audience remember the film and they will be inclined to go and watch the film and they will remember the film and will stick in their head

information-the slogan is positioned in the sides and the main image will be in the center of the poster so it will be the main thing that the audience will focus on and the main thing that they will focus on and they will remember when they think about the film. the trailer will feature main and key moments of the film and key slogans or messages that are important to the film.

call to action- to watch the film when it has been released and to maybe generate an income for an individual or company

photography– i would need pictures of the actors with objects that are related to the film such as a phone or something related to the death of the main character in the film, the trailer will feature cinematography from the film and gives a general indicator of what the film will be about.

colours– the colours will be dark and gloomy as these are often used in darker film genres such as horror and thrillers the use of brighter colours may be used to add variety

graphics and fonts- this is an important factor as it helps to advertise the film as if the fonts and graphics are of a high standard the viewer will be more inclined to watch the product as it looks more appealing but if the fonts and graphics are of a low standard the viewer will not want to watch the film as it doesn’t look appealing and it may be reflective of the film. ofcom– Office of Communications deal with everything to do with television they are responsible for what is being broadcast on television. They are responsible for regulating television content and making sure that everything is appropriate for the time of day.

bbfc- the bbfc is a regulatory body and the part they regulate is the film trailer to make sure that everything is age appropriate for the audience and if it isn’t the the correct measures are taken to make sure that the content is deemed suitable for the viewers. Because trailers were given certificates in their own right this establishment just makes sure that it is the correct one so it is suitable for viewing purposes.

ASA- the advertising standards agency make sure that all adverts are suitable to be shown on television or even you tube. They make sure that all the content is age appropriate and that it’s fitting with regulatory rules and regulations and that harmful content isn’t being shown to those under age.

year end poster mockup

For my mockup i have added an age certificate and a slogan saying coming soon as this is a mockup so there wont be an actual date this will be on the final design. i used a simple picture as this allows me to expand on this design and develop my idea further and and more things to it so that i can make a more refined piece of work.
